No Matter Where You are on Life’s Journey…

...You are welcome here!

Jesus didn't turn people away and neither do we.

Country Club Congregational United Church of Christ values diversity of belief and perspective. Our faith community contains those who identify as Christian, those who seek spiritual truth but resist labels of traditional institutions, agnostics who are drawn to the teachings of Jesus and more.

CCCUCC is an Open and Affirming (ONA) congregation. We open our doors to everyone whatever their gender, economic class, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnicity or difference in ability.

Because of Christianity’s historic and ongoing oppression of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people (LGBTQ), we decided over 20 years ago to publicly declare our support for LGBTQ rights. We are “open” to LGBTQ people and we “affirm” them as made by God. Today our church is made up of roughly half heterosexual people and half LGBTQ people.

CCCUCC is a Peace With Justice Congregation. We believe peace and justice are at the heart of Jesus’ teachings. We promote interdependence through economic, political and social justice. We seek to love life in all its diversity. We work for a sustainable earth and try to answer resentment and anger with the equitable distribution of the earth’s resources.

KCUCC Lenten Series “Lovers and Fools: Lent 2018”

The season of Lent begins this year on Ash Wednesday, which happens also to be February 14, Valentine's Day, and ends on Easter Sunday, which happens also to be April 1, April Fool's Day. As we walk through this season of preparation for Easter, we will reflect upon the many ways all of us are both lovers and fools. The example of love demonstrated by Jesus often looks pretty foolish by the standards of our culture. How do we navigate the competing demands of faith and culture?

You are invited to attend:

Wednesday, February 14
Ash Wednesday Services Noon and 7 PM
Join us at noon and 7 PM for a service of reflection upon mortality and the freedom which comes when we live our one God-given life in an intentional manner.

*Cancelled due to Ice* Wednesday, February 21
Dinner and Labyrinth Walk 6 PM
Our church social hall will be turned into a prayer labyrinth. We will walk the Medieval pilgrim's path of prayer and reflection.

Wednesday, February 28
Dinner and Poetry 6 PM
We will share poems from the book queering lent. This book of poetry is "an exploration of queerness and Christianity--and the queerness of Christianity. This collection contains references to transphobia, violence against trans people, mental illness, and suicide." Then we will write our own poems about our Lenten journeys.

Wednesday, March 7
Dinner and Coloring 6 PM
Coloring isn't just for kids. We will color together posters (2' x 3') with depictions of the Psalms customarily read during Lent.

Wednesday, March 14
Dinner and Family Fun 6 PM
All are welcome, but families and kids are especially invited to share a meal and fun Lenten crafts for all ages.

Wednesday, March 21
